Windows XP Professional SP1 Integrated
Corporate (No Serial Needed)
Good for older computers (2.0GHz or less Intel or equivalent AMD, 256MB RAM or less, etc.)
"Lite" version (Many things removed, however all programs installedfine, though some thing like CuteFTP, Java, Alcohol 120% took ~10 mins.to install for some reason, they installed fine and successfully, justbe patient.)
Detailed Info:
This is just about the lightest version Windows XP Professional youcould ever want. It is less than half the size of the original XP CD(488 MB reduced to 228 MB). This is great for older computers becauseit will run a good bit faster than standard XP. This is mostly due todisabling all the active logging Windows does. Plus, I disabledindexing service (Windows still has the check mark in the box forenabling/disabling the service, but it is disabled) and Windows nolonger caches thumbnails. Also, the preview frame for videos has beendisabled for speed and more importantly, because if you have an oldervideo codec than a video was encoded with, Windows will crash everytime you open that folder.
Some things that are important to note: Internet Explorer has beenremoved. After installing XP, just run the CD and you will see theinstallation file for the latest version of Firefox (ver. 1.5 as of01/02/06). Firefox is the equivalent of Internet Explorer. But it ismuch safer to surf the net (it can block pop-ups, reject websites’attempts to install spyware, refuse to run ActiveX ******s, etc). Notonly is it safer, but almost everyone will agree it is much fasterpulling up websites. Outlook and MSN Messenger are also gone. Alexiaspyware that is normally packaged with XP has been removed. Minimumsystem requirements have also been disabled so you can install it onjust about any computer. Pretty much anything that is not needed hasbeen removed. Other little stuff such as autorun has been disabled(because newer music CDs can secretly install crap that can keep youfrom ripping CDs). And just the annoying stuff like balloon tips thatconstantly remind you that you are low on disk space or you have unusedicons on your desktop.... they have been disabled. For those who don’tlike what SP2 does to your system, you will be happy to see only SP1and a recent security hotfix have been integrated.
I have tested this disc and it works very well. Near the end of theinstallation it will ask if you want to register with Microsoft. Justclick ‘no’ and it will never bug you again. No serial number isrequired (already inserted). I'd also like to note that you cannotupgrade older operating systems with this. You must be able to bootfrom the CD (or DVD) drive and install directly from there. This mayrequire you to change the boot order in your motherboard's BIOS.
This is an ISO image file that must be burned to a CD-R. Thus, you willneed some kind of CD burning program to do this. A few capable programsthat come to mind are DVD Decrypter, Nero, Alcohol 120%, MagicISO,etc..
Lite versions of XP seem to be common on other torrent sites. Sure, Ihave seen some a bit smaller than this one. But they take out things Ilike such as wordpad, games, backgrounds, and the Luna theme (withoutLuna, XP looks like Win98.). This version looks and acts just like thefull version of XP, only it runs faster.
